Campgrounds in Land Between The Lakes

There are four developed campgrounds in Land Between The Lakes.  Additionally, there are several basic campgrounds, camping areas and backcountry camping within Land Between The Lakes.  Additional developed campgrounds are also outside of LBL's borders along Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley.

Hillman Ferry Campground

Arguably the most popular campground in Land Between The Lakes, Hillman Ferry, located just south of Grand Rivers in northern LBL, features 374 well-defined lake front and wooded campsites.  These sites can accommodate a variety of units from tents to large RVs.  You'll find basic sites as well as those with electric, water and sewer.

Modern facilities provide a level of comfort for those staying at Hillman Ferry.  You'll find a large swimming area on Kentucky Lake, archery range, ball field, biking and hiking trails, a campfire amphitheater, two boat ramps, fishing dock, picnic tables and fire rings.

During the summer months, rec programs are also available for those campers staying at Hillman Ferry.

Additional amenities include shower houses, laundry facilities, the Outpost (camping supplies for purchase), vending machines and more.

Piney Campground

Piney is located in southwestern Land Between The Lakes, just off Fort Henry road and north of US 79.  There are 384 well-defined campsites that are wooded or lake-front.  238 of those sites contain electrical hookups.  44 sites have water, electric and sewer.  In addition, there are 57 primitive sites.

Most of these campsites can accommodate large motor homes and campers.

Folks at Piney Campground can enjoy a wide variety of activities.  There's a swimming beach area, archery range, ball field, biking and hiking trails, two boat ramps and a fishing pier, all on Kentucky Lake.  Primitive cabins with basic necessities are also available to rent.

Piney is also known for the Camper's Fair, held usually in September.  The fair features a flea-market, dealer showcase of campers and RVs as well as fifth wheels and motorhomes.

Due to popular demand, Piney Campground is now open year-round beginning with the 2018-19 season.  Specific rules apply to wintertime camping at Piney.

Campers can enjoy access to a swimming beach area, playground, activity field, canoe and kayak rentals, and hiking trails.  Energy Campground is known for a great place to hold retreats for school groups, scout troops, and family reunions.

Canoe rentals are available during the season, typically from May 15 through October 31.  In additional to the sites with electrical hookups, campers can select primitive sites, long-term campsites and group campsites.

Wranglers Campground is unique is that it caters for those who love horses.  At Wranglers, you'll find opportunities for horseback riding and wagon driving enthusiasts year-round.

There are over 100 miles of horseback riding trails located throughout the area, some with views of Lake Barkley.  Guided rides are also available for those who want to enjoy time on the trails but do not have their own horses from April through October.

Modern facilities include stalls for your horses.  On the weekends, farrier and blacksmith services are also available.

Remember - at Wranglers, horses have the right of way at the campground!  Additionally, all overnight campers with horses must camp at Wranglers when visiting Land Between The Lakes.  No other campgrounds allow horses.
