The Homeplace 19th Century Farm

Step Back in Time!

Functioning as a fully operational home & farm, The Homeplace allows visitors to take a step back in time, providing a snapshot of living and working conditions in the mid-19th century.

Located on the Tennessee side of LBL, The Homeplace provides interpreters throughout the grounds providing insight into living and working conditions of this era. Period clothing and reproduction tools are also used by the actors as they perform daily chores and activities.

Animals & livestock (such as oxen, sheep, chickens, and pigs) are located on the grounds as well, as they were integral parts of family and farm life during this time.

The Homeplace features 16 original and restored log cabins, most of which were relocated within a 10-mile radius. Special events are also held throughout the year, celebrating everything from the fall harvest, to the spring plow, and summer twilight. Visitors are encouraged to interact during each celebration as well, adding an intimate setting for each trip.
